Marina and the Diamond Review

Oh Marina Marina Marina, you far more than a Catherine Zeta Jones or Shakeria. She is outspoken young female who been waiting patiently to launch her outspoken lyrics and varied tones onto the world. For vivid music listeners Marina and the diamonds have been around for quite a while with EP like crown jewels showcasing her supremely confident talent. But has her album lived up to the hype?

The album starts with upbeat tones Are you satisfied? and Shampain. Both get your feet taping to the beat and most defiantly leave with the urge to boogie. The album goes up a gear with I'am a not robot which sublime lyrics and complimented with simple piano rythum. Marina is great at writing lyrics from her perspective which can be related to the masses. But the album is not completely flawless diamond. The most dreadful annoying songs like girls, outsider and Hermit the frog. By the end of album her voice started to grate on my mind, her repetitive change of tone is too much. Hollywood is a catchy chorus poppy rubbish attempt to try and attract the masses. Very disappointed with it being the lead single. I doubt anyone has this profound American dream she waffling on about. I prefer when she kept it simple like obsessions which the song sells it self and in my opinion is the best of the album. Its natural human nature to have this jealous obsession feel and Marina hits the nail on the head with this lyrical dream. I can see this being sleeper hit if released.

The album is no doubt worth a listen and live she's a marvel to watch. Florence and the machine has no concern to look over her shoulder cause stilll undoubtly the queen of music.
